Your students study from your Gemini Notebook. You see who understood it.

Teachers use Gemini Notebook (formerly Google NotebookLM) to organize unit materials, study guides, and sources. You can share a notebook with students or attach it in Google Classroom, but you only see who opened it, not what they understood. Quiz scores stay in each student's notebook. Tappy is the classroom layer: paste your notebook's content once and share one link. Students work through your material with Tappy's tutor, by text or voice on any Chromebook, and you get a report on each student: who understood it, who struggled, and what to reteach.

How it works — 3 steps

1. Copy your notebook's Briefing Doc. In Gemini Notebook, open the Briefing Doc (or a study guide) in the Studio panel, press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C. (Tappy can't open notebook links, even public ones, so the text is what travels — Tappy never touches your Google account.)
2. Paste into Tappy and name the assignment. Sign in with Google at teachtappy.ai, paste the text (plus any PDFs, article links, or YouTube videos), pick which class periods get it, and click Import. You'll immediately see a preview of exactly how the tutor will open with your students.
3. Share one link per class — copy it, post it to Google Classroom with one button, or project the QR code. Students tap, type their first name, and start working through the material with Mira, Tappy's tutor, by typing or talking. Their results appear on your dashboard as they finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can students use my Gemini Notebook directly?

Yes, if you share it with them or attach it to a Google Classroom post (students need a school Google account with Gemini Notebook turned on by your admin). What you won't see is how they did: Google shows you who opened the notebook and who started a chat, but quiz scores stay in each student's notebook. Tappy gives you a report on each student: who understood the material, who struggled, and what to reteach. Students work through the same material with Tappy's tutor, by text or voice in the browser on any Chromebook, without access to your notebook. They join with a link and their first name, no Google account needed.

Is Tappy free for teachers?

Yes — free forever: 6 classes × 30 students, unlimited sessions, no credit card. Paid plans exist only for school-wide features (LMS gradebook integration, rostering).

Do students need accounts?

First name only. No email, no password. FERPA-first design: no ads, no data sales, teachers can export or permanently delete everything.

Voice or text?

Both, in the browser on any Chromebook, tablet, or laptop. Most students use text chat in class; voice is there when they want to talk it through. Both are grounded in your materials. Students can also snap a photo of homework for step-by-step help.

What do I see afterward?

Per-student mastery, questions asked, and practice completed on every assignment — who worked, who struggled, what to reteach.

What if I don't use Gemini Notebook?

Paste any notes, upload PDFs, or add article/YouTube links — Gemini Notebook is just the most common starting point.
